This
former Olympic swimmer turned
professional in 2001, giving up her
remaining two years of college
eligibility. She has since won her
share of records around the world.
Here’s a rundown of her most recent
accomplishments. In 2003, Amanda
tied the world record in the 200m
breast, winning gold at the FINA
World Championships. She won silver
in the 100m breast and 400m medley
relay, swept both breaststrokes and
swam the breast leg of the women’s
400m medley relay at the Mutual of
Omaha Duel in the Pool. She won her
fifth U.S. National title, taking
the 200m IM in a personal best at

In
2002, she broke the American record
in the 200m breast at the second
World Cup, and won the 100m and 200m
breast at Pan Pacific Championship.
She swam the breast leg on the
silver medal-winning 400 medley
relay; won the 200m breast and was
third in the 100m breast at the P66
Summer Nationals. Amanda was silver
medalist on the American
record-breaking 400m medley relay
and was fourth in 100m and 200m
breast, fifth in 100m
IM and sixth in 50m breast at Short
Course World Championships. This
accomplished swimmer has won
numerous international medals, and
holds many U.S. national titles, as
well. Amanda is indeed one of the
greatest swimmers of our time.
